Pools Players Go Back To Classroom
You never forget meeting your heroes. That is one of the main factors behind the success of the Pools Study Support Centre.
Once again the Pools players have taken up their role in the Playing for Success scheme and made inspirational visits to our classroom last week.
Students really value these appearances and continue to rate it as the best element of their 10 week course. It is a chance for our young people to spend time with the footballers they can usually only watch from the stands on match days.
This time round the players were involved in a variety of maths challenges with the pupils.
Despite having been at many big clubs this was Robbie Elliott's first visit to a Study Support Centre and along with goalkeeper Scott Allison really looked relaxed around our students.
They answered some questions from the girls and boys from Sacred Heart RC Primary before assisting them with some hands-on puzzles.
They were also challenged to a Speedstacking competition by the Y7 students from High Tunstall College which was a close result in the end.

Michael Rae and Martin Young returned to the classroom to meet the pupils from Barnard Grove and Rift House Primary Schools.
They shared their experiences of becoming part of a successful team and advised the pupils on the importance of hard work in football and in the classroom.
Jamie McCunnie and Godwin Antwi resumed their rivalry in the classroom when they took part in a HUFC version of the 'Price is Right' with the pupils from Kingsley Primary School.
Having previously been beaten by Jamie in Speedstacking and a squad number game last time round, Godwin got some revenge by claiming the top shoppers spot!
The pair also met with the Y7 Students from English Martyrs RC School during their first PfS session.
Each of the visiting players were superb, patient and for that we thank them
