What's been your favourite moment supporting Pools?
Beating Darlo is always special but the win that sticks out the most for me is the first time I visited Feethams. Pools needed a win to avoid finishing in the bottom of the old div 4 back in the early 70s. With around 5,000 Poolies crammed into all parts of the ground and making all the noise as usual, Pools took a lead only to get pegged back to 1-1. Then a moment of magic in the 85th minute from legend "Willie Willie Waddell" on loan from Glasgow Rangers lifted the roof of the Tin Shed. His screamer of a shot meant Pools were safe for another season and had all the players and fans celebrating. I think there was a feeling that if Pools had finished in the bottom four again they would have gone out of the league so it was a special goal and a vital win against the old foes.
What's the best thing about supporting Pools?
Supporting a genuine club the fans are passionate about. We may only get average 4,000 home crowd but its amazing how many Pools fans there is out there. Once a Poolie always a Poolie and the Play Off Final just showed the potential for big crowds at The Vic.
Who has been your favourite ever Pools player?
For me its diving header specialist Keith Houchen. He gave his heart and sole for the club as player and manager during some very difficult seasons. In between he made it to the top and what Poolie could not have been proud of his FA Cup winning goal for Coventry.
Who has been the unsung hero of the 100 years?
I am going to name a player who left the club at the end of last season without the send off and recognition I feel he really deserved. Mark Tinkler is the most hard working midfield player Pools have ever had and was the heart of the team that got to all those play offs. He was in the promotion squad of last season but he deserved more than the handful of games at centre back. He should also have made the All-Tme Team in my opinion. For me he will become a Pools legend when fans look back at the success during his time at the club.
If you could sign one player for Pools, who would it be?
Dimi. Get him back NOW! And just watch the defence start playing again.
What are your hopes for the new season?
That Pools have the ambition to push towards the top of the table and the fans reward them with decent gates. We should be filling The Vic every game. The Championship is nothing to be afraid of; just look at Hull City, so come on everyone at Pools - go for it next season.
What grounds are you looking forward to visiting next season?
Wembley. Any will be a bonus for me living in the USA!
Who do you think will be Pools biggest threat in League One next term?
I think the two teams that came up from League Two (MK Dons and Peterborough) will be strong if they keep their talented managers.
