"Well, it's in the past now really but I was right next to Ben Clark when the incident happened and my reaction was that it wasn't a penalty. I've seen it on television since and it's not changed my view. Ben asked the ref at the time why he gave it and he was told that the ball didn't move - but if you watch the replay the ball is moving and then stops when Ben makes the tackle which suggests he got the ball."

"There is a lot going round about respecting the referee at the moment and I think although we were disappointed about the penalty decision we held back quite a lot. Refs are only human and they're going to make mistakes but it would be refreshing to hear one come out and admit he had made an error. After a game in the Premier League if a player has made a mistake you see the interview afterwards where he apologises to his team-mates and admits his error - you very rarely see referees do the same thing."

"Well, we couldn't really have got off to a better start against Swansea. We came out flying and scored in the first minute which was great. We carried that through the first half and could have been two or three up by the time they equalised. They did put us under pressure though and got the equaliser - the penalty was a bit of a turning point really."

"It's unusual for me that we're looking like going towards the end of the season with nothing to play for. It'll be the first time since I turned professional that it's been that way as at Bury I always had something riding on the last day and obviously it's been like that since I joined Hartlepool. We just have to try and finish the season strongly, get on a good run and prove to ourselves and the supporters that we're capable of better and get a good, solid base for next season."

"Lidds' injury was quite a nasty one really. After I'd heard he'd had 19 stitches I sent him a text asking why he couldn't have just strapped it up and played on!! He sent one back saying it wasn't nice looking down and being able to see the muscle in his leg! I think he sent that to a few of the lads as well from what I can tell. He's playing on it a bit now and he's got a photo of it on his phone which he keeps trying to show people. I wouldn't be surprised if he sent it in to Nuts magazine!"

"Richard Barker is getting quite bored at the moment as he's injured and spending time (mainly arguing!) with the Physio James Haycock. James can be really entertaining and tells some really strange stories from his childhood - sometimes they're stories he should just keep to himself as he gets grief for them! At the moment James is getting quite a bit of stick about the obscene amounts of money he spends on getting his hair cut - his last trip cost him £58! And I'm not being funny, but he hasn't got that much hair to cut on top! He also gets these silly little highlights put in even though he keeps trying to tell us it's natural!"
