No Tiger Woods means this week's Open at Royal Birkdale will be exactly that - wide open!

Sergio Garcia heads the bet365 market at 10/1, with Ernie Els at 10/1.

Both are fine links players so they should give their supporters a good run for their money, but it could pay to look a bit further down the betting list for some value.

Historically, the Americans have done well in our Open, particularly at Birkdale, where they've won five of the last eight played.

Jim Furyk has already won a major and is an obvious contender at 20/1 having finished fourth here in 1998, while Stewark Cink registered his best Open finish to date last year when sixth, and makes plenty of each way appeal at 33/1.

The Aussie challenge looks as strong as ever and the market suggests that Adam Scott and Geoff Ogilvy are their best hopes at 22/1 and 28/1 respectively.

However, the value may lie with left-handers Richard Green (80/1) and Nick O'Hern (100/1), who have been in good form in recent PGA Tour starts.
